Facial liposuction can be performed in less than an hour using light sedation with a local anesthetic. To improve fullness below the chin, jawline or generalized contouring the neck area, Dr. Fink will make a half centimeter incision beneath your chin and behind each earlobe. He will then insert a metal tube attached to suction, which is moved back and forth to break up and remove the fat to the desired shape. As a stand alone procedure, it works best when there is still good skin elasticity. A laser is sometimes used beneath the skin to stimulate collagen and some shrinkage in the skin. When the skin is too loose to tighten after removing the fat, liposuction is commonly combined with a face and neck lift. If you are troubled by a double chin, jowls or a turkey-waddle neck, facial liposuction may be an option. The best way to determine if you are a good candidate for the procedure is to schedule a consultation with Dr. Fink.
